A tea society is one in which ladies and gentlemen come together to promote the drinking of hot tea by educating its members about tea’s unique qualities. The tea society can be one in which its members are already devoted tea drinkers or it can be for the novice who wishes to learn how to brew a proper cup of tea. The members may be militant in their views of tea drinking and may sign a tea drinkers “Bill of Rights” or they may just gather to share the tea-drinking experience with other devotees.
The goal of the Tea Society of the Hunter House Victorian Museum is to entertain its members by offering an elegant environment in which to take tea. A necessary by-product of this will be the education of its members in tea etiquette, tea service and tea history. Since those of you joining us on the
Web will be unable to take part in the elegant teas offered at the Hunter House Victorian Museum, we hope to give you encouragement and suggestions on how to create an equally elegant and enjoyable atmosphere in your own home or garden.
Perhaps, one day you will be able to enjoy tea in our garden or parlor or possibly even become a regular member of the Tea Society of the Hunter House Victorian Museum. Until such time, it is our hope that the on-line version will give you ideas and
encouragement as you enjoy tea with your friends and family.
